New Zealand’s largely under-explored minerals resources are one of the country’s most significant economic opportunities. The New Zealand Government continues to raise the profile of the sector by fostering investment in exploration and production.
New Zealand Petroleum and Minerals (NZPAM) functions as both a regulator and a promoter of the industry.
NZPAM is a branch of the New Zealand Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment and manages New Zealand’s minerals estate. NZPAM was established in 2011 and given a strong commercial focus. As custodians of New Zealand’s mineral resources, NZPAM is responsible for leading the sector, consulting with iwi and hapū, and engaging with local communities.
NZPAM’s aim is to foster a minerals industry that responsibly delivers value to New Zealand.
