As the leading New Zealand Coal producer, we provide energy for the agri-business sector, schools, hospitals and many other key players in our economy and society. And with recent growth and acquisitions, we’re now positioned to become an exporter of high-quality coal for steel production in Japan, India and Asia.
We’re listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) but we’re a New Zealand registered company having moved our corporate office from Australia in 2013. We have no operations or employees outside New Zealand.
We have three operating mines in the South Island: Canterbury Coal (west of Christchurch); Stockton (north of Westport); and Takitimu (north of Invercargill). And we also own Maramarua and Rotowaro in the Waikato region. And we have two further mines - the Cascade and Escarpment mines near Westport. Both of these mines are currently under care and maintenance.
In addition to our domestic operations, we have permits over 15,000 hectares on the Buller coalfield. This is part of our strategic plan to become an exporter of high-quality metallurgical coal. We also hold various exploration and prospecting permits in other areas of the South Island to position ourselves for further opportunities and growth.
