Update regarding alert levels and the holding of an in-person event

Under current alert levels, mass gatherings are restricted to 100 people which would prevent us holding Minerals Forum in-person and we would need to run an online event.

The Government announced on Friday September 4 that the current alert levels will remain until September 16. It will review these levels on Monday September 14. We have decided to wait until this announcement before making a decision.

We are confident that the language used suggests that a relaxing of the levels is being anticipated.

Freeman and Straterra will jointly make a final decision on whether Minerals Forum will go ahead in-person by no later than Wednesday 16 September. This is the latest we are prepared to go before making a pivot to a fully online event should we need to. We already have the online platform and at this stage the plan is to run an in-person and online event.

For those thinking about booking flights and accommodation, thank you for your patience.

In further news, the programme is now complete. We have 250 delegates confirmed, an outstanding group of finalists for the Minerals Sector Awards, and a student and poster programme.

We would also like to take this opportunity to welcome onboard two new sponsors - IMG and NZIMMR.
