The New Zealand Minerals Forum in partnership with AusIMM is a two day conference and exhibition covering mining in New Zealand. It is designed: to showcase the New Zealand mining sector to stakeholders and prospective investors; and educate and inform the New Zealand mining community. It attracts high-level attendance from mining companies, government regulators and agencies, the investment community and service companies.

In response to the uncertainty around running large events safely, Straterra and Freeman, in partnership with AusIMM, have made the decision to move this year’s New Zealand Minerals Forum to a digital-first platform. It will now be held over two days on 13-14 October 2020.

Going digital brings a lot of advantages to the forum and its participants. While positioning the sector as being leading and innovative, it allows us to bring the event to a much larger audience. Attendees will experience live and on-demand content, immersive and interactive digital experiences and fantastic networking and engagement opportunities.

These changes are the outcome of a consultation process with the Straterra board and our partner AusIMM. As a result, we are confident of achieving an increased attendance at the 2020 Minerals Forum, including the key mining participants in New Zealand.

The event is a joint venture between the industry association Straterra and Freeman, publisher of Inside Resources.

Hon Dr Megan Woods - Minister of Energy and ResourcesFROM THE MINISTER

The New Zealand minerals sector provides both a substantial economic contribution to our country and we want to see this continue in the future. This Government understands the importance of mining for regional economies and is interested in the pivot going on around the world towards ‘green minerals’ and what role New Zealand could play in this.

Further, the adoption of new mining technologies and our role in innovation provides opportunities for best practice operators and service providers in New Zealand to export their intellectual property. The Minerals Forum is an important event being attended by key stakeholders in the sector and I look forward to seeing you all there.
